Dubray Storyfest at Airfield Estate

Congratulations to the SuperTones on a wonderful, fun and musical first performance of the new year! Thank you to the organisers at Airfield Estate and the Dubray Storyfest, especially to Sarah Webb. We were thrilled to sing our favourite, bird themed songs in the Green Barn to a full house (barn?!).

The event was a panel of well known Irish writers and personalities who read from their favourite books. We heard snippets from the tragic but world-changing Black Beauty, and then from the gritty, dirty and damp Fungus The Bogeyman.

It was then our turn to perform and we excitedly took to the stage and performed our songs. “My Singing Bird” was our first song, and is a soft and soothing Irish song about lots of different types of singing birds - there’s a thrush, blackbird and a linnet in there! Our next song was “Feed the Birds” from the film Mary Poppins. We performed this with much more drama and energy as we narrated the scene of the woman selling her bag of crumbs are St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Then lastly we sent everyone out with our favourite song: “Yellow Bird”! This is a tune originally from Haiti but given English words and is fun and jazzy and was a perfect, uplifting end to the event and our performance. We are very grateful for Zac for accompanying us on the piano, he did a wonderful job and we look forward to many more performances.

Thank you Storyfest and Airfield, we had a wonderful time and hope to see you again soon!
